100% Verdelho. Fermented on skins for two weeks. Spicy ginger and oolong overlay juicy tropical fruits.

GROWING & MAKING: Margaret River Verdelho grown by Ben Johnson at his great little Cowaramup vineyard.  This is what is known as an ‘orange’ or ‘skin contact’ wine and is basically white grapes that are made as if they’re a red wine.  Rather than fermenting juice that has been pressed and separated from its skins, here we left the skins with the fermenting juice for two weeks.  As a result, colour (the slight orange hue), tannin (that savoury dryness on the finish) and interesting flavours (think oolong, ginger and camomile) are added to the wine.  Verdelho by nature has good acitidy (which keeps the wine crisp and fresh) and plenty of juicy, tropical fruit flavours (that make it delicious).  This is interesting and textural, but it’s also super fruity and yum. 

Unfined, unfiltered; minimal mucking about. Vegan.
